Family members of a man from Bihar, who died under suspicious circumstances at the State Mental Health Centre at Thiruvananthapuram on August 4 last year, have sought a CBI probe into his death.
Harender Kumar Singh, father of Satnam Singh Mann, said the family was unhappy with the Crime branch probe into the death of his 23-year-old son and only a CBI probe would reveal the truth behind his death
Kumar, along with activists of Thrissur-based Satnam Singh Defence Committee were speaking to reporters here yesterday.
Mann was arrested and remanded on August 1 last year after he created scenes at the ashram by trying to barge onto the podium of spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi.
He was later shifted to the mental hospital as he was allegedly in a mentally disturbed state.
Mann suffered injuries on August 4 following a scuffle with some cell mates and was admitted to the medical college hospital, where he was declared dead.
