Saurashtra Cricket Association told to pay Rs 26-crore tax

Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) has been asked to pay Rs 26 crore as income tax by the end of next month.
The Income Tax Department (Rajkot Circle) issued a notice to SCA in this regard last month.
When contacted SCA Media Manager Himanshu Shah confirmed receiving the notice.
"The notice was issued in the first week of January, asking the association to pay the tax amount of about Rs 26 crore by March-end," Shah said.
The department issued the notice after making assessment of financial years 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 and considering sale of tickets, advertisements in newspapers and other commercial activities related to the association, he added.
