Ten-time national men's champion Saurav Ghosal, who is at a career-high ranking of 15 on the PSA circuit, is among the list of top entries at the USD 35,000 CCI Open Squash tournament commencing here tomorrow.
A host of big names are set to play in the tournament with Spanish No.1 and World No. 12 Borja Golan, the top seed, heading the list of entries.
The tournament is the second event of this year's JSW Indian Circuit, the first one being the NSCI Open which ended on Sunday.
Apart from the 29-year-old Ghosal, India's charge at the tournament would feature Mahesh Mangaonkar, runner-up at the NSCI Open, and reigning national champion Harinderpal Singh Sandhu, who won three tournaments last season in the circuit and has secured a wild card here.
Mangaonkar will have a chance to avenge his defeat at the NSCI final against champion Adrian Waller, seeded fifth in the USD 120,000 prize money circuit, in the first round while Sandhu had drawn Mazen Hesham of Egypt as his first round opponent.
Seeded among the top eight are Egypt's Omar Abdel Meguid and Mohamed Abouelghar.
After this tournament, the circuit would move to Kolkata for another USD 35,000 PSA event at the Calcutta Racquet Club, between September 24 and 27, before it ends with a USD 10,000 combined men's and women's tournament at the Indian Squash Academy in Chennai - scheduled from 19 to 22.
The circuit is supported by the Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI) and the World Squash Federation (WSF) for the second year.
