Speaking to PTI here, Andanappa Yalagi welcomed Ireland's decision to repeal the legislation that makes abortion a criminal act.

He also demanded a public inquiry into the death of his daughter and urged the External Affairs Ministry to exert pressure on Ireland to order an impartial probe into it.

The death of 31-year old Savita, a dentist hailing from Karnataka, last month after she was denied abortion despite miscarrying sparked outrage in the country with political parties terming it as a violation of human rights.
