SBI chief in Bloomberg's '50 Most Influential' list

State Bank of India's (SBI) first woman chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya been featured in the '50 Most Influential' list of Bloomberg Markets.
Bhattacharya, who is the only Indian woman to be present in the list, is featured in the 'bankers' category, SBI said in a release issued here today.
The list will appear in the magazine's October 2014 special issue.
"Bhattacharya runs India's biggest bank and is pushing politicians to abandon their practice of forgiving loans, saying that it corrupts the credit culture," Bloomberg Markets said in a citation statement.
When contacted, Bhattacharya, who is completing her first year in the corner room of the 208-year-old bank's first woman chairperson shortly, said that she was honoured and delighted to be get the recognition.
"I am happy that this recognition will help me contribute more to nation-building and that this will inspire me to drive SBI to partake in the country's growth story," she told PTI.

The final list consists of 10 people in each of the five categories -- money managers, thinkers, corporate power brokers, bankers and policymakers.
"We select individuals based on what they're doing now, rather than past achievements, and almost three-fifths of this year's list is made up of people who are appearing for the first time," the magazine said.
