Public sector lender State Bank of India (SBI) today said it has made 63 out of 67 branches fully functional in flood-hit Kashmir valley, saying customers can carry out banking transactions at these branches.
Banking operations at 67 branches of SBI in Kashmir were paralysed following the floods in Jammu and Kashmir.
With a total business of Rs 3,000 crore, SBI has a total of 67 branches and 218 ATMs in the valley.
However, a bank official in a release said the four branches located at Badshah Chowk, Badami Bagh, Jawahar Nagar and Rajbagh in Srinagar city suffered maximum damage because of floods.
"These branches were in severely inundated areas, which have suffered extensive damage to equipments and shall take some more time to be made operational. Customers of these branches can avail banking facility from nearby branches of our bank for the time being," official said.
He further said 132 ATMs in the valley are operating normally while 7 mobile ATMs have been deployed at inaccessible points of Srinagar.
He further said SBI will soon launch rehabilitation and restructuring scheme for its affected customers to help them rehabilitate their business quickly.
