SBI's Rs 2.12 crore-wroth sanitation initiative
Press Trust of India Thiruvananthapuram Public sector State Bank of India will tomorrow dedicate to the nation its Rs 2.12 crore worth sanitation initiative, implemented in Kerala's Palakkad district as part of the Swatch Bharat Mission.
Rajnish Kumar, Managing Director, SBI, will dedicate the toilets constructed in government schools in a function to be held in Thrissur, a release said here.
"Toilet facilities in every school are essential for the improvement of health and education of children. Realising this, SBI has identified Palakkad district for providing toilets with water connection to government schools.... " it said.
Wockhardt, a registered public charitable trust, was roped in for the construction and maintenance of the project, it said adding that the design and cost of the toilets were as per the guidelines of Department of Ministry of Human Resource.
"Under the project, one combined toilet block with proper water connection has been provided to all the 50 schools. Total project cost is Rs 2.12 crore which includes Rs 20 lakh for maintenance of toilets for two years," it said. Besides this, Rajnish Kumar would also launch the bank's Digital Village Initiative in Kaipamangalam in Thrissur district tomorrow.
