A bench headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu fixed the date after petitioner NGO Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL) pleaded that the matter be taken up by the court as Special Public Prosecutor Anand Grover has already given his opinion on the controversy surrounding Ranjit Sinha.
Grover, in his note, had told the apex court that Sinha's frequent meetings with several accused and their representatives in 2G case is "definitely improper" and the court should look into whether his conduct amounted to criminal contempt.
The SPP had said that people have a right to know the top cop's conduct as it does not pertain to his personal affairs and no law protects the confidentiality of information in the guestlist register which should be examined by the apex court.
Meanwhile, the apex court also fixed for November 26 hearing of the plea of some of the accused in the 2G case that they be discharged.
