"It is indeed matter of pride and privilege to have a Test match being played at Rajkot. It is like dream come true" SCA's veteran secretary Niranjan Shah was quoted as saying in a release.
The Test match against the visiting English team will be played at the SCA stadium in Khandheri on the outskirts here.
"It is the ultimate prestige for any state association having Test match centre as well as having the test to be played," Shah added.
"Glad to hear that Rajkot is being allotted a Test match. It will create more interest for Test cricket in the entire region and it is like homecoming as the land of Saurashtra has rich heritage of having some great test players," Pujara was quoted as saying in the release.
"It will motivate the young players to connect to test cricket by watching and learning the richness of the five-day game," the right-handed batsman added.
Earlier in the day, the BCCI had announced that one of the five Test matches against England will be played at Rajkot.
