A delegation of the SCCI, led by its President Suresh Sonthalia today met the South Eastern Railway, General Manager during his visit to the Chakradharpur division and handed over a memorandum in support of their demand.
The Kolhan division of industrial districts of east and west Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan comprised of 50 lakh population of the state and generate a maximum revenue for the Railways, Sonthalia claimed.
As Rajasthan has been an important state as far as religious and tourist destinations were concerned, Sonthalia demanded that a train originating from Puri or Howrah via Tatanagar should be launched to facilitate the people.
The SCCI functionary said 12496 Kolkata-Bikaner Pratap Express (Friday), 18473 Puri-Jodhpur Express (Wednesday), 12315 Sealdah-Udaipur Ananya Express (Thursday) and 14710 Puri-Bikaner Express (Wednesday) should be extended to Jaipur and Ajmer via Tatanagar till a new direct-train to the Pink City was introduced.
He also wanted Tatanagar to be made a regular halt for the Howrah-Mumbai Duranto Express changing it from being a technical stop.
Sonthalia's other demands to the Railway executive included extension of the Howrah-Digha-Howrah Duranto Express upto Tatanagar, introduction of Pantry cars in Shalimar Bhuj Express and Tatanagar-Jalianwala Express, arrangement for full rakes in Tata-Allepey Express and the Tata-Patna-Durg South Bihar Express.
