The brass plaque that will be installed by the SCG Trust on the brickwork at the top of the stairs that lead to the home team's dressing room will feature a small bust of Hughes grinning face at the entrance of the Members' Pavilion. It means the Australians will see his face each time they take and leave the field.
It will be an emotional moment for all present at the SCG on the first day of the Test on Tuesday as Hughes's family will be at the grandstand to witness the match, just as his mother and sister were during the fateful Sheffield Shield match.
"I think it's a great thing that the Trust are going to do that for Phil and Phil's family," said Hughes' close mate former Australia teammate David Warner.
Six weeks have passed since the cricket world was rocked by the untimely demise of 25-year-old Hughes, who was struck on the helmet by a short-pitched delivery while batting for South Australia against his former team NSW in a Sheffield Shield match here.
