Scheme to train youths for Union Civil Services examination

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday launched a scholarship scheme to train youths of the state for the Union Civil services examination.

The scheme called the Chief Minister's Civil Services Fellows would select 100 youths of the state who will be trained by a private coaching institute for the Union Civil Services examination.

The chief minister said the selection of 100 students will be based on Meghalaya Reservation Roster List to give equal opportunity to students from Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills.

The Scholarship Exam will be conducted on September 15 next in all district headquarters under the supervision of the district Deputy Commissioner of each district, he said.

According to the programme, students selected from Khasi/Jaintia Hills region shall undergo their training here whereas students selected from Garo Hills shall be trained at Tura via VSAT Technology and live telecast of classes in Delhi.

Prateek Bhattacharya, the sales head of ALS, the private coaching institute, announced scholarship worth Rs 1 crore for 265 aspirants under ALS CSR Initiative for Youth of Meghalaya.
