Scholarships for handicapped

As many as 2000 students with disabilities would be awarded scholarships for pursuing professional courses during the academic year 2013-14.
Social Justice & Empowerment ministry today said students having disability of 40 percent and above would be eligible for scholarship schemes.
While 1500 students will be provided scholarships under Trust Fund, 500 students will be given scholarships under the National Fund, the two schemes run by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment.
The 1500 scholarships under Trust Fund will be awarded to students with disabilities for professional courses at graduate and post graduate level.
The 500 Scholarships under National Fund will be awarded for higher academic, professional or technical courses like Ph.D, M.Phill, PG level graduate or diploma and certificate level studies.
Trust Fund scholarship scheme is restricted to those students with disabilities whose total family income is not more than Rs three lakh per annum.

National Fund scheme is restricted to those handicapped students whose total family income is up to Rs 1.80 lakh per annum.
Students must apply by August 31 to be considered for the benefit.
National Handicapped Finance & Development Corporation (NHFDC), which has been set up by the ministry, would implement the two scholarship schemes.
