The director of a school and her husband have been booked by the police on the charge of confining and torturing the principal.
Principal Surya Mahela lodged a complaint against Sarita Devi, Director of Sobha Narayan Public School, and her husband Sikandar Paswan following which the police registered an FIR against them, Begusarai Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar said today.
"Mahela was in a very bad condition when she reached the police station. She had joined the school as Principal about one-and-a-half months ago. On November 7, she approached Sarita and asked for her salary following which she was confined by Sarita and her husband Sikandar," Kumar said.
Mahela, who belongs to Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, in her complaint alleged that she was physically and mentally tortured by Sarita's husband for five days. She fell ill and somehow managed to convince them that she needed medical attention, the SP said.
"Mahela came out on the pretext of visiting a doctor and managed to reach the police station. She had been confined for five days. We have admitted her to the Sadar Hospital here for treatment," Kumar said.
The SP said that police will be recording the victim's statement.
