A government primary school, located barely 28 kms from Madhya Pradesh's capital, is running without basic facilities like electricity and desks and benches for children, among other requirements.
"There is no electricity connection in the school since it was constructed. It was not provided to us," a contractual teacher of the government primary school at Dehri Neemkheda village in Raisen district told PTI.
Notably, there is electricity supply in the village but the school does not have a power connection.
The school, which has a total 90 students and three teachers to manage the show, does not even have desks and benches for children and there is no proper playground. The school also does not have a proper boundary wall.
As per the Right to Education (RTE) norms, schools must have adequate and safe drinking water, proper sports ground and a boundary wall, permanent or temporary, to ensure safety of school building, but all these things are missing in the school, situated close to Bhojpur town.
When asked about the poor infrastructure facilities in the school, Minister of State for School and Higher Education Deepak Joshi told PTI, "There are number of primary schools in the state running without electricity connection. We are trying to provide solar power connections in such schools through people's cooperation."
"Besides, we are also working on providing proper electricity connection in all the schools of the state, especially at the primary level, by 2016," he said
The Minister also informed that other facilities also will be provided to these schools gradually.
