Charges have been framed against the Principal T H Abbas of Al Azhar Higher Secondary School at nearby Mala under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) of the IPC and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2012.
According to the complaint lodged by the student's father, the boy was directed by his class teacher to stand outside the classroom as he did not bring his text-book on June 25.
When the principal noticed the student standing outside the class room, he questioned and allegedly slapped him several times. Later, the boy was admitted to hospital and discharged yesterday.
The school authorities have alleged that the complaint was lodged following previous enmity as the boy's father was a former Executive Committee Member of Al Azhar Muslim Educational Society, which runs the school.
