Jawaharlal Nehru Secondary School for girls was inaugurated by Anil Wadhwa, Secretary of Ministry of External Affairs in Asera al-Shamalyeh along with the Governor of Nablud, Akram Rajoub.
Wadhwa is on a two day official visit to Palestine from July 8-9.
The school along with similar projects related to Centres of excellence in ICT, vocational training centres as well as hospitals are being set up in Palestine with Indian support.
The other ongoing projects of Government of India in Palestine include Jawaharlal Nehru Secondary Boys School in Abu Dees, setting up of India-Palestine Centre for Excellence in ICT and Digital Learning & Innovation Centre in Al Quds University (with a satellite centre in Ramallah) and Supply of Technical & Vocational Education Training (TVET) Equipment and Training Services to Seven Vocational Training Centres in Palestine, a statement from Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.
It was the second instalment of a USD 1.8 million project to build two schools - Jawaharlal Nehru Secondary School for Girls in Asera Al Shamalyeh, north of West Bank town of Nablus, and Jawaharlal Nehru Secondary School for Boys in Abu Dees, east of Jerusalem.
