The police said locals set ablaze a private bus after it ran over and killed Ratan Barman (11), a class-V student of Balakuthi High School at Jorai More at 10.30 am.
Barman was going to the school in a bicycle this morning to take examination.
He died on the spot, the police said.
A total of 12 people were arrested and the bus driver fled after the accident, sources said.
