At least six passengers and the driver of an Uttar Pradesh roadways bus were injured today when a group of schoolboys allegedly pelted stones at the vehicle for being made to get off it for not buying tickets.
The bus was on its way to Meerut from Delhi when the students got into it at Modinagar bus stop. When the bus conductor asked them to buy tickets, they showed their monthly season tickets (MST) pass, police said.
When told that the pass was not valid on the bus and they needed to buy the tickets, the boys refused. Following this, they were asked to get off the vehicle, the police added.
The boys then started pelting stones at the bus. They fled the spot as soon as the police reached, an official said.
"As many as six passengers and the driver Shabir were injured. They were taken to a nearby hospital where they were given first-aid and later discharged," the official said.
A complaint has been registered, he added.
