Schools in Kerala reopens after summer vacation

: Schools in Kerala re-opened today after two-months summer vacation as nearly three lakh tiny tots took admission in the first standard in state schools.
About 36.5 lakh students entered their new classes as a new academic session began.
The occasion was celebrated as "enrollment festival" in all primary schools all over the state to welcome children in a homely and friendly atmosphere.
Classrooms were decorated with colourful banners, buntings, ribbons and balloons as teachers welcomed the children by offering sweets and flowers in several schools across the state.
State Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb inaugurated the state level 'enrollment festival at Kumbalakad in Kalpetta in Waynad district.
A major initiative in the education sector is the introdction of multi-media "Digital Collaborative Textbooks', the first of its kind in the country, in government schools for nineth and 10th classes and Plus two courses from this year.

This digital textbook will comprise information contributed by persons around the globe in audio or video formats, besides the scanned soft-copy of normal textbooks.
IT@School, under the state General Education Department, is the agency that will launch the digital collaborative textbooks' early next month.
Government has also revised the curriculam for classes for the first, third, fifth and seventh stanards.
