Science Forum to hold documentation of birds in Bahoor lake

Puducherry Science Forum will conduct survey to enumerate and document the species of birds on the sprawling lake in Bahoor near here on February 18.
General Secretary of the PSF A Hemavathy said in a release here today that students, teachers, ornithologists and environmentalists will enumerate the species of birds and also document them and this was the second year in succession that such an exercise would be held.
Hemavathi said that already a training session was conducted for the school children and others on identification of species of birds.
Screening of pictures of different species of the birds was conducted on February 4 by ornithologists.

The survey and enumeration of the birds carried out by the PSF last year had enabled the viewers to identify more than 10,000 birds of 37 species and they were all documented.
The birds included several migratory birds visiting the lake every year.
