The Minister for Science and Technology also said that efforts should be made to increase agricultural production under the changing climate scenario.
"Efforts should be made to increase agricultural production in the country under changing climatic scenario. It is also necessary to use modern tools and scientific innovations to combat the impact of climate change", he said while addressing scientists of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University here.
He was at the university to review various research projects funded by the State and National Science and Technology promotion agencies, including Department of Science and Technology.
He visited Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (CPMB and B), Department of Nano Science and Technology and Post Harvest Technology Centre and lauded the efforts of CPMB and B in developing crop varieties adapted to water deficit conditions and also changing climatic scenario.
The scientists and students highlighted the research achievements as well as on-going activities in varietal development, biotechnology, horticulture, microbiology, post-harvest processing and agri-business promotion, to the minister.
