India has been forced to import costly equipment despite possessing expertise in medicine and cosmology among other areas centuries ago because it was kept a slave for more than 100 years, Principal Scientist in ISRO Dr A Shivathanu Pillai today said.
India was the origin of science and had been an expert in nanotechnology, medicine, surgery and cosmology centuries ago. However, being a slave country for over 100 years, it lagged behind in technological skills, necessitating import of costly equipment, he said.
Inaugurating a device, Spyglass DS, which offers high quality view of bile ducts of liver and ducts of pancrease at VGM Hospital here, Pillai said technology should benefit common man.

Elaborating on SMILE procedure, Dr. Rajesh BTJ, Medical

SMILE procedure has the advantage of being a flapless surgery, eligible for all age groups and with better compliance. Above all it allows the patient to lead an active life."
In addition to this partnership, the eye hospital group has opened new facilities in the Hubli and Mysuru districts in an attempt to make Dr. Agarwal's a familiar name amongst the people of Karnataka. Through these facilities, the hospital chain aims to cater the best of eye care treatments to the people of the state.
