He was addressing a gathering at the inauguration of theatre artist, actor and director Ashok Samel's Marathi book 'Me Ashwatthama Chiranjiv', yesterday.
Mashelkar, a former Director General of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), on the occasion recalled his friendship with Samel during their school days and said he was proud of Samel's work.
"Artistes and scientists, both of them think differently and hence there is a similarity between them. A scientist's work is based on evidences, which is not the case in artist's work. Anybody can do easy things but the one who outshines, does difficult ones.. Something which is done by scientists, writers and artistes," he said.
