"By appointing Scindia as the chairman of the state poll campaign committee, Congress leadership has proved that it has no trust on party's state president Kantilal Bhuria. It amounts to insult of tribals in the state," Chouhan told reporters here.
Bhuria belongs to a tribal community and will be heading the state Election Committee. Both Scindia's and his appointments were made yesterday.
Dismissing allegations that mining mafia in the state has become active under the ruling BJP, Chohan said, "Till 2003, the state used to get Rs 600 crore royalty from mining, which has gone up to Rs 3,200 crore now. Wherever any complaint (regarding illegal mining) is received, the government acts on it promptly."
Earlier, the state BJP president Narendra Singh Tomar said the party would announce the names of candidates for the assembly polls by the end of this month or by the first week of October.
