A 50-year-old woman was killed and around 10 others were injured after two families clashed following an argument over bursting of crackers in outer Delhi's Samaypur Badli area last night.
The deceased has been identified as Sunita Devi, a housemaker. A case of murder has been registered but no arrest has been made so far as the accused too are admitted in the hospital.
The incident took place around 9 PM yesterday when children of the two families, who are neighbours, were bursting crackers. An argument broke out among them which snowballed into a scuffle.
Soon elders also joined in and after a fist fight, both the parties resorted to stone pelting, police said.
Someone made a PCR call following which a police team rushed to the spot and pacified the warring groups and rushed the injured to hospital.
"Locals told us that the families had a long-standing tiff. At least 10 people from both sides were injured, of which the condition of six was critical. The woman succumbed to her injuries during treatment," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Vikramjeet Singh said.
