SDM held in graft case in Rajasthan

A sub-divisional magistrate at Shahpura here has been arrested by sleuths of anti-corruption bureau for allegedly demanding bribe for conversion of land use, ACB officials said today.
The accused official, Bharat Bhushan Goyal, was demanding Rs 25 lakh from the complainant for land use conversion of 25 bigha land. He had already taken Rs 1.50 lakh and was arrested while accepting Rs 3.5 lakh yesterday, Director General, ACB, Bhupendra Dak said.
Apart from this, Goyal had demanded Rs 12.50 lakh or nine bigha land for Shahpura Circle Officer (of Police) Vijay Meena and the middleman, Shankar Agrawal, had also demanded Rs five lakh for himself, the DG said.
Following the complaint, A trap was laid and the accused SDM, who is an official of Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS), was apprehended while accepting the bribe in his apartment here, he said.
The role of others in the case is being verified, he added.
