The building department of BJP- ruled SDMC today alleged that an AAP MLA issued threats and beat up two of its staff during an anti-encroachment drive in Hari Nagar area in south Delhi, a charge denied by the lawmaker.
The South Delhi Municipal Corporation in a statement claimed that Badarpur MLA Narayan Dutt "created a ruckus" while a team of the building department had gone to demolish unauthorised structures in ward no. 97.
The SDMC said it has filed a complaint with the police after the alleged incident.
"A complaint has also been filed by the Building Department against the MLA of the AAP in Jaitpur Police Station. The building department was taking action against unauthorised construction falling in Zone 'O'," it said.
It has been stated in the complaint that immediately after start of the action against ongoing unauthorised construction, the MLA and his associates started "issuing threats" to an "assistant engineer and a junior engineer, and then started beating them", the SDMC claimed.
When contacted, Dutt denied the allegation and hit back at the BJP-ruled corporation.
"They (SDMC employees) are corrupt and harass poor people. Those who don't pay they demolish their houses. We had only intervened to stop the altercation that had broken out between the residents of the house and the SDMC staff. The residents had come to blows with the staff," he alleged, adding, "We did not threaten or beat anyone.
