The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has released Rs 5.81 crore for development of 83 rural villages lying under the four zones in its jurisdiction.
South Delhi mayor Shyam Sharma on Thursday said the departments concerned have been instructed to ensure the development of basic amenities in all villages under the jurisdiction of the civic body.
As per the instructions, an amount of Rs 5.81 crore has been released. The 83 villages under four zones of the SDMC will be developed and developmental work of urgent nature will be completed with an amount of Rs 7 lakh per village, a senior SDMC officer said.
Nine villages under central zone will get an amount of Rs 63 lakh, 20 villages under south zone will get an amount of Rs 140 lakh, 53 villages under the west zone have been granted an amount of Rs 3.71 crore and three villages under the Najafgarh zone will get an amount of Rs 21 lakh, he said.
The three divisions under Engineering Department will carry out development work in the villages.
