The standing committee of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) today took a step towards going fully papereless by adopting iPads.
In its previous meeting, the standing committee had decided to go fully paperless by adopting digital modes of communication.
The first iPad was handed over to the senior-most member and Leader of House Subhash Arya by the Chairman of Standing Committee Shailender Singh Monti and Commissioner Dr PK Goel in a meeting of the body, said a senior SDMC officer.
The iPads will be handed over to the mayor, deputy mayor, all members including chairman of the standing committee, officers attached to the standing committee and all heads of departments, within next 10 days, said the officer.
The shift from the traditional paper work to the digital mode of work will result in a saving of Rs 4.50 Cr over a period of three years, besides saving trees being cut for making paper, said standing committee chairman Shailender Singh.
The iPads will have ample memory of 32 GB, hence putting an end to store the agenda papers for reference purpose in the future, he added.
