Claiming it to be the first civic body in the country to do so, SDMC said the move will help save "around Rs 1 crore".
"The corporation has decided to reuse old textbooks and pass on to the next class. This will cut consumption of paper in printing as the number of book printed will come down from 12.94 lakh to 10.32 lakh," the official said.
"We also invite NGOs, RWAs and the corporate to come forward and become a partner in rebinding of the old books so that new students in the classes can reuse it," he said.
