Storage solutions major Seagate today launched an ultra slim hard disc, Backup Plus Slim, with 2 terabyte capacity, which stores photos, videos and files across PCs, social networks and devices, including smartphones and tablets.
The US-based firm, which has shipped over 2 billion hard discs, also unveiled Backup Plus Fast with 4 terabytes storage capacity that features USD 3.0 interface to deliver transfer speed of up to 220 megabyte per second.
The 4 terabyte (TB) capacity Seagate Backup Plus Fast portable drive is currently available in stores for Rs 25,000, while Backup Plus Slim is priced at Rs 4,250 (500 GB), Rs 6,000 (1 TB) and Rs 10,500 (2 TB).
"Backup Plus Fast will find acceptance among creative professionals as the go-to back up device for the field, while Backup Plus Slim provides easy backup of social media albums, PC content and now even your mobile devices," Seagate Country Manager (India & SAARC, Philippines, Vietnam, Indo-China and Singapore) Rajesh Khurana said here.
The metal top-case of Backup Plus Fast drive is a quality sturdy design and is resistant to scratches and fingerprints. It needs no external power supply and is compact enough to fit easily in a camera bag or backpack, he added.
The drive is configured as RAID 0, which stripes the data across both drives increasing the volume capacity and transfer speed, Khurana said.
On Backup Plus Slim, Khurana said the free Seagate Mobile Backup app for iOS and Android devices helps users to back up all of the pictures and videos from that device to the drive or a cloud service.
While, on a home network, content from mobile devices can be sent directly to the drive via a Wi-Fi connection. Cloud services such as Dropbox or Google Drive can be used for backup while on the road, he added.
