Search for 18 foreign crew of MV Bingo cargo ship on
Press Trust of India New Delhi Indian Coast Guard has deployed a ship and Dornier aircrafts for search of 18 crews who have abandoned a cargo ship, MV Bingo, suspected to be sunk 22 NM off Sagar Island due to Cyclone Phailian.
All 18 crews (17 Chinese and 1 Myanmar) abandoned ship and embarked on life raft, Coast Guard officials said.
Indian Coast Guard Ship Vajra has been deployed in the area for search and rescue operation, and Coast Guard Dornier aircrafts are looking for missing crew, a Coast Guard official said.
Cyclone Phailin had made landfall yesterday evening and the Indian Coast Guard has been on alert with one offshore Vessel Vajra out at sea and ready to meet any contingency.
The Coast Guard, which found two abandoned fishing boats --Jai Bajrangbali and Pawan Putra --near Odisha coast, rescued 18 crew and Coast the Guard medical team provided them with first aid.
