Second man held over death of Afghan Sikh stowaways in UK

A second person has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter over the death of one of the 35 Afghan Sikh stowaways found inside an airtight shipping container on a dockyard in Britain.
The dead man, named Meet Singh Kapoor, was one of the 35 Sikhs, including 15 children, from Afghanistan rescued at Tilbury Docks on Saturday.
Police said a 33-year-old man from Londonderry has been arrested after voluntarily attending a police station in Essex and is due to be questioned by detectives later. The suspect has also been arrested on suspicion of facilitating illegal entry into the UK.
Yesterday, a 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Kapoor's manslaughter in Northern Ireland. He is also being held for facilitating illegal entry into the UK and is due to arrive in England for questioning later.
Meanwhile, the 34 surviving Sikhs who were rescued from the airtight container after an 18-hour ordeal have sought asylum in the UK.
The last four people remaining in Southend hospital were discharged yesterday.

The group included 13 children, one as young as one, and were found screaming and banging after arriving at Tilbury docks in Essex from Belgium.
They have now finished speaking to police and are being cared for by Home Office officials and are in the process of applying for asylum, Essex police said.
A Home Office spokesperson said: "We are continuing to provide expert support, along with the National Crime Agency, to the Essex police investigation into the discovery of 35 people in a container at the port of Tilbury on Saturday.
"This tragic incident is a reminder of the devastating human consequences of illegal migration and we will do all we can to help bring those responsible to justice.
"Following the conclusion of police interviews, the individuals involved have now been passed into our care."
