Second seed Emily prevails over Kim

It was England woman Emily's strong first serve and solid return that helped her win but not before she was fully tested by her Korean rival.

First set was marked by back-to-back breaks, Emily won at 6-3 in the second set after she conceded a 2-0 lead. She took five games in a row to lead 5-2 but lost the advantage when Kim made it five-all.

In the tie breaker, Emily had a rough time after she contested the line call especially when she trailed 5-5 but Kim won the tie breaker at 7-6.

In the deciding set, Emily blasted regular aces to wrap up the set and the match 6-1.

Meanwhile, Indian veteran Rushmi Chakravarthi defeated Napatsakorn Sankaew of Thailand 7-6 (5) 4-6 6-4 in a match that lasted three hours.

Fourth seed Zi Yang of China proved too strong for the former Asia champion, 15-year-old Rutuja Bhosale of India, as she won 6-0 6-0 in 58 minutes.

A heavy downpour in the evening cut short the day's play. Three unfinished matches and another match, which was scheduled today, would be continued tomorrow morning.

In one of the unfinished matches, local top junior player and wild card entrant Spurti Shivalingaiah was leading 6-1 2-3 against the 8th seed Nidhi Chilumula.
