The mission mode project (MMP) envisages facilitation services to travellers including online application forms, 24X7 online channel, phone support for grievance redressal and e-mail/SMS support for dissemination of information, application status and feedback.
"The core objective of this project is to develop and implement a secure and integrated service delivery framework that facilitates the legitimate travellers while strengthening the security," Additional Secretary in the Home Ministry Khurshid Ahmed Ganai said while inaugurating the second national conference on Immigration, Visa and Foreigners' Registration and Tracking (IVFRT) here today.
The project seeks to achieve service delivery within specified time limits for each category of travellers.
The MMP was sanctioned by Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs in May, 2010 and is to be implemented by September, 2014 at estimated cost of Rs 1011 crore.
The MMP has global outreach since the scope of the project includes 179 missions, 81 immigration check posts, 12 foreigners regional registration offices and over 700 FROs in the district headquarters.
The implementation of the project is being done in a planned and phased manner in consonance with infrastructure/ connectivity readiness of locations supported by effective communication, training and capacity building, a Home Ministry spokesperson said.
