On the heels of terror attacks in Paris, security has been beefed up for the upcoming Garh Ganga Mela here that is dubbed as one of the biggest fair of its type in North India.
"We are not leaving any chance for the anti-social elements to create ruckus at the fair ground," DIG Asutosh Kumar said, but denied receiving any intelligence input about any possible terror threat.
"We do not want to leave any loose ends in terms of security. The whole fair ground has been divided into zones and sectors and a large number of police, PAC, NDRF personnel, Bomb and Dog squad are being deployed there," Kumar said.
At least 20 to 25 lakh people from Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr and Baghpat in UP, Delhi and Haryana are expected to visit the Garh Ganga Mela this year.
