Security across Madhya Pradesh was beefed up in the wake of a shutdown call reportedly given by groups opposed to caste-based reservations tomorrow, police said.
Officials said the call has been a social media-fuelled one and no organisation had come forward so far to claim responsibility for it.
The state had witnessed widespread violence during the 'Bharat bandh' on April 2 called by Dalit outfits protesting against the alleged dilution of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
It had led to the death of eight persons and had left scores injured, including 54 policemen.
Officials today said that they had been paying particular attention to messages being circulated on social media platforms.
Deputy Inspector General of Police, Bhopal, Dharmendra Dubey said that social media messages were being monitored and warned that those spreading hate messages would be booked under section 188 (disobedience to order promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code.
