The Defence Ministry said this in response to media reports about the presence of ISIS terrorists or groups having links to the terror group in the country.
"Security forces and all intelligence wings wish to give a categorical assurance that they are on full alert to the possibilities of such links or emergence of IS groups round the clock as it is the prime responsibility of the security forces and national intelligence," the ministry said in the statement.
In July, a 37-year-old Sri Lankan was reported killed in an air strike in Syria. There were no other reported cases of ISIS recruits from Sri Lanka so far.
