Security measures adopted for civic polls

Official sources said today over 8000 policemen would be deployed at the polling booths to ensure free and fair polls.

A total 130 people have been booked so far in the drive against criminals and anti-social elements in the run up to the polls.

The district police have served notices against 1861 people with criminal background to deter them from engaging in electoral malpractices, the sources said.

Altogether 1648 candidates are in the fray in total 310 wards of the ten urban bodies.

Elections will be held for PMC(72 wards), Barh Nagar Parishad(27), Khagaul Nagar Parishad (27), Danapur Nizamat (40), Mokama Nagar Parishad (28), Masaudhi Nagar Parishad (26), Phulwari Nagar Parishad (28), Fatuha Nagar Panchayat (23), Maner Nagar Panchayat (19) and Bakhtiyar Nagar Panchayat (20).
