Amid reports that Pakistani Taliban could attack the Bangladeshi High Commission here in the wake of the execution of Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah in Bangladesh, security around the mission has been tightened.
Although security around the mission has been enhanced manifold and the fresh security directions have been issued to the Bangladesh Ambassador, yet law enforcement agencies still fear a terrorist attack at the High Commission.
Law enforcement agencies have submitted a report to interior ministry quoting a security agency saying that Taliban have expressed annoyance with the Bangladesh government over the killing of the Jamaat-e-Islami leader and could attack the Bangladesh embassy, The Nation daily reported.
The High Commission is not located within the safe confines of the Diplomatic Enclave but in a residential area of the city.
Security has also been beefed up across the capital ahead of the winter holidays and Christmas.
Several people were injured today in Bangladesh when hundreds of demonstrators clashed with police outside the Pakistani High Commission here as they protested for the second day on resolutions adopted by Pakistani lawmakers over Mollah's hanging.
Bangladesh's foreign office on Tuesday summoned Pakistani High Commissioner Afrasiab Mehdi Hashmi Qureshi to convey Dhaka's strong resentment over the resolutions.
