The sedan, a product of the German luxury car maker Audi, was found wheeling slowly into the sea with waves hitting and dragging the vehicle inside the sea.
Local fishermen alerted Kelambakkam police who engaged an earthmover and with the help of fisher folks, the car was pulled back into the shore.
A police official told PTI: "The owner of the car is being ascertained. Since the sedan does not have a registration plate we are seeing if the number plate was removed deliberately or if it is a new car. The car has now been brought to the Kelambakkam Police Station".
