Seeds Shriyanshi, Mahima advance at badminton tournament

Top seed Shriyanshi Pardeshi of Madhya Pradesh proved too strong for Maharashtra's Nivedita Rao by coasting to a fluent 21-7, 21-6 win in a girls' under- 17 first round match of the 3rd Gautam Thakkar Memorial All India Junior Badminton Tournament here today.
In another under-17 girls' first round matches, fourth seed Mahima Aggarwal of Karnataka also had an easy outing, defeating Shriya Bhagwat of Maharashtra in straight games at the Bombay Gymkhana courts.
The 10th standard student of Frank Anthony Public School, Bangalore and a trainee at the Prakash Padukone Academy, recorded a 21-12, 21-11 victory to advance to the second round.
Also advancing to the second round was Delhi shuttler Anamika Kashyap who scored a hard fought win against Kareena Madan of Maharashtra in three games - 20-22, 21-17, 21-18.
