Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy tonight reviewed law and order situation in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions even as curfew was clamped in north coastal town of Vizianagaram where maximum violence was reported.
With properties of Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana and his relatives becoming the target of united state protagonists in Vizianagaram district, the chief minister asked DGP (in charge) B Prasada Rao to take strong action to prevent such vandalism.
Kiran, camping in Tirumala for annual Brahmotsavam, spoke to chief secretary P K Mohanty and B Prasada Rao over phone and directed them to act tough against anti-social elements that were damaging public and private properties.
A press release from the CMO said the chief minister asked top bureaucrats to closely monitor the situation and take effective steps for maintenance of law and order.
Police had used cane charge and lobbed tear gas shells at protesters, including students and state government employees, who tried to force their way in in the residence of Satyanarayana yesterday.
