While hinting at BJP, Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Singhal today appealed people to create a conducive atmosphere before the Lok Sabha polls for formation of a government which protected "self-respect of the majority community".
Inaugurating the valedictory meeting of the 10th state conference of "Hindu Aikya Vedi" here, Singhal said Hindus were facing many problems in the country because of lack of unity among them.
Organised efforts should be made to realise objectives like construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya and the demand for a uniform civil code.
"To protect the self-respect of Hindus, an atmosphere should be created before the next polls to form a government at the Centre that protected self-respect of Hindus," he said.
He said more than 10,000 saints who had assembled for the Kumbh Mela at Allahabad recently had unanimously decided to work for the construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya.
Uthradom Thirunal Marthanda Varma, head of the Travancore royal family, and former ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair were among those who spoke at the occasion.
