Select base metals recover on listless trade

Copper utensils scrap, zinc and brass sheets cuttings recovered modestly in an otherwise listless non-ferrous metal market here today on stockists buying amid renewed demand from consumer industries.
On the global front, industrial metal copper edged lower in early deals as traders turned defencive ahead of a speech by Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen later in the session, with volumes expected to improve as China returns from a week-long break on Wednesday.
Copper utensils scrap and zinc rose to Rs 3 per kg each to Rs 405 and Rs 173 from Monday's closing level of Rs 402 and Rs 170.
Brass scrap cuttings moved up by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 325 as against to Rs 323 previously.
However, Copper armiture and lead softened by Re per kg to Rs 422 and Rs 135.
