Select base metals surge on firm demand

Select base metals including nickel, brass sheet cuttings and select copper surged further at the non-ferrous metal market here today due to stockists buying amid firm demand from alloy industries and consumer industries.
While, tin, lead, zinc and copper utensils slipped owing to lower demand from alloy industries.
Nickel rose by Rs 8 per kg to Rs 788 from last Saturday's close Rs 780.
Copper armature, copper sheet cuttings and brass sheet cuttings moved up by Rs 2 per kg each to Rs 348, Rs 342 and Rs 280 as against Rs 346, Rs 340 and Rs 278 previously.
Copper cable scrap, copper scrap heavy and copper wire bar inched up by a Re per kg each to Rs 363, Rs 358 and Rs 391, respectively.
However, tin declined by Rs 8 per kg to Rs 1,420 as compared to Rs 1,428 last Saturday.
Lead, zinc and copper utensils softened by a Re per kg each to Rs 140, Rs 200 and Rs 327 respectively.
