Select copra prices slips on reduced demand

Prices of copra Alapuzha and Kozhikode slipped at the spices market here today on reduced demand from stockist and retailers as well as lower export offtake.
While, rest all other spices closed at previous levels owing to lack of buying support.
However, black pepper and ginger prices recovered due to renewed demand from stockist and exporters on the back of restricted arrivals from key growing regions.
Copra office Kozhikode and copra office Alapuzha fell by Rs 100 per quintal each to Rs 8,600 and Rs 8,500 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 8,700 and Rs 8,600.
Black pepper rose by Rs 10/5 per kilo to Rs 645/730 as against Rs 635/725.
Ginger bleached and ginger unbleached moved up by Rs 5 per kg each to Rs 235 and Rs 255 as compared to Rs 230 and Rs 250, respectively.
Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):
Black pepper (per kg) 645/730 (635/725), ginger bleached (per kg) 235 (230), ginger unbleached (per kg) 255 (250), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 8,600 (8,700), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 8,500 (8,600), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 16,000 (16,000), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 10,900 (10,900).
