Select copra spikes up on strong demand amid tight supply

Prices of copra Alapuzha and Kozhikode maintained its rising trend for the fourth straight session at the spices market here due to heavy offtake from stockists and millers amid supply shortage.
Meanwhile, rest all other prices ruled steady in the absence of necessary buying support.
Copra prices are likely to rule firm in the near term owing to limited arrivals from key growing regions in the midst of low production coupled with upcountry as well as export demand, traders said.
Copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode both rose by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 8,200 and Rs 8,100 from overnight closing level of Rs 8,100 and Rs 8,000 respectively.

Black pepper (per kg) 531/581 (531/581),ginger bleached (per kg) 205 (205), ginger unbleached (per kg) 215 (215), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 8,200 (8,100), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 8,100 (8,000), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 9,600 (9,600), Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 9,000 (8,800).
