Select copra surges on heavy demand, pepper strengthens

Copra rajapur and copra edible prices surged at the spices market here today due to persistent demand from stockists and retailers amid higher export offtake.
Elsewhere, black pepper strengthened further on firm demand from exporters and upcountry advices.
Meanwhile, copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode prices ruled stable in absence of any worthwhile buying.
Copra edible regained by Rs 700 per quintal to Rs 12,200 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 11,500.
Copra Rajapur shot-up by Rs 500 per quintal to Rs 15,000 from Rs 14,500.
Black pepper advanced by Rs 40/50 per kg to Rs 780/840 as against Rs 740/790 yesterday.

Black pepper (per kg) 780/840 (740/790), ginger bleached (per kg) 340 (340), ginger unbleached (per kg) 370 (370), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 11,200 (11,200), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 11,100 (11,100), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 15,000 (14,500), Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 12,200 (11,500).
